Executive Search Recruiters

Executive search recruiters are essentially individuals who are tasked with the task of finding and recruiting individuals who are deemed fit for particular executive positions within an organization, particularly organizations that deal extensively with businesses. What executive search recruiters actually do is to “cast a net” out to find the very best candidates according to the specification for the position as specified by the organization wishing to have a position filled. It is the responsibility of executive search recruiters to “sell” their potential executive to their clients, and they work in cycles of attracting networks of employers (as clients), recruiting candidates (according to the list of specifications required by the client) and negotiating the placement of candidates with potential employers.

The executive search recruiters are, in fact, segregated into two categories depending on how they are utilized by the organization they work for: the contingency-based executive search recruiters and the retained executive search recruiters. The contingency-based executive search recruiters are the headhunters who receive compensation for their work if and only if they succeed in finding at least one satisfactory candidate for the position that the organization wants filled – more often, this means that they are paid of the candidate in question gets HIRED. Retained executive search recruiters, on the other hand, are paid “on an assignment basis” – meaning that they are assigned by the organization to try and recruit a particular person for a particular position, and they shall be paid regardless of their success or failure. That is not to say that success or failure among retained executive search recruiters is not important – a failure means the termination of a potentially long-term relationship between the executive search recruiters and their clients in question. Of course, a long-term relationship between executive search recruiters and client-organizations are rare, mostly because the job is mostly “selling” candidates to potential employers. Executive search recruiters tend to only have a very basic knowledge of what their client expects of a particular candidate, and nothing more – after all, they are only expected to find a number of candidates to fill the position.

While executive search recruiters are usually associated with executive search firms, it could not actually be said that all executive search recruiters work for an executive search firm. In fact, some independent executive search recruiters are thought of as more efficient when it comes to matching candidates with the appropriate organization and executive position. Still, major organizations are more likely to trust executive search firms when it comes to dealing with executive hiring.
